چکیده
PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to measure and compare the strain levels in peri-implant bone as generated by 1-piece (1P) and 2-piece (2P) implant systems. MATERIALS AND METHODS The implants (1P and 2P) were placed into bovine bone according to the manufacturer's protocol. Four linear strain gauges were placed around each implant neck and apex. Each model was loaded in static loading by a material testing machine in ascending forces ranging from 20 to 120 N. Microstrains (μ[Latin Small Letter Open E]) generated in the surrounding bone were measured by a strain gauge and recorded. RESULTS Recorded microstrains were significantly higher for 1P implants than for 2P implants. Average recorded microstrain values were significantly lower in the neck (71.6 and 17.3 µs) compared with the apical (132 and 60 µs) regions of 1P and 2P implants, respectively (P < 0.0001). CONCLUSIONS Within the limitations of this study, highest microstrains were generated in apical regions regardless of implant design, but the 2P implant ap-peared to provide a stress-damping effect in both the cervical and apical regions compared with the 1P implant.

A microstrain comparison of passively fitting screw-retained and cemented titanium frameworks.
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM An imprecise fit between frameworks and supporting dental implants in loaded protocols increases the strain transferred to the periimplant bone, which may impair healing or generate microgaps. PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to investigate the microstrain between premachined 1-piece screw-retained frameworks (group STF) and screw-retained frameworks fabricated by ce...
متن کاملTorque Removal Evaluation of Screw in One-Piece and Two-Piece Abutments Tightened with a Handheld screwdriver
Introduction: Some clinicians use a handheld screw driver instead of a torque wrench to definitively tighten abutment screws. The aim of this study was to compare the removal torque of one-piece and two-piece abutments tightened with a handheld driver and a torque control ratchet. Methods: 40 ITI implants were placed in acrylic blocks and divided into 4 groups. In groups one and two, 10 ITI one...
متن کاملStress and strain patterns of 1-piece and 2-piece implant systems in bone: a 3-dimensional finite element analysis.
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM The transition from implant to abutment is solid in 1-piece (1P) and broken in 2-piece (2P) implant designs. This difference may affect occlusal load distribution and marginal bone response. PURPOSE To determine whether 1P and 2P implants with equivalent geometries exhibited stresses and strains differently under applied loading conditions. MATERIALS AND METHODS Design ...
متن کاملA novel device for resonance frequency assessment of one-piece implants.
PURPOSE Immediate loading and/or restoration of dental implants requires the assessment of implant stability, which is best performed by resonance frequency analysis (RFA) prior to loading. One-piece dental implants are usually used for immediate loading, but there is currently no available reliable method to assess the primary stability of one-piece dental implants. Therefore, this study sough...
متن کاملPeri-implant biomechanical responses to standard, short-wide, and double mini implants replacing missing molar supporting hybrid ceramic or full-metal crowns under axial and off-axial loading: an in vitro study
BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to evaluate the biomechanical response of the peri-implant bone to standard, short-wide, and double mini implants replacing missing molar supporting either hybrid ceramic crowns (Lava Ultimate restorative) or full-metal crowns under two different loading conditions (axial and off-axial loading) using strain gauge analysis. METHODS Three single-molar implan...
